Carling Cup 2011-12

In this years campaign Saints started off at home to Torquay, which they comfortably won 4-1 in front of a sparse crowd of just over 6,500.

The next round saw Saints away to Swindon, who had turned into something of a bogey team for Saints in the lower divisions. This time they were little troubled on their way to a 3-1 victory at The County Ground. There was some unexpected entertainment at the end when the Swindon manager, Paulo Di Canio, got involved in a physical dispute with his Centre Forward.

The third round saw Saints at home To Preston, which was won in some style 2-1.

The fourth round was away to Crystal Palace, which Saints lost 2-0, but it was a game in which in which the 16 year old James Ward-Prowse made his first team debut.

So, that was the League Cup adventure for another year.
